Introduction


Now that St. Thomas has treated the persons in particular, he begins to make comparisons. John of St. Thomas divides this into five, 


> First, with reference to the essence which terminates them and the essential names whereby they are signified, in q. 39. 

> Second, they are compared to the relations by which as personal forms they are constituted as persons, in q. 40. 

> Third, they are compared to the notional acts according to which the Persons are originated or produced, in q. 41.
